Hi all! Before we jump into today's interview, we just wanted to give a quick update regarding the Monthly Roundup for January. To keep it short, there will be no Monthly Roundup this month as our team was out of office for a large chunk of December for the holidays: It'll resume as normal next month though.

With that aside, It’s 2025: You want to play Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines, a game notorious for releasing with many technical problems and a whole host of cut content. What do you do? You go and grab Wesp5’s Unofficial Patch of course! 

This legendary modder joins me today to chat through their history of working on this project, so why don’t we just sink our teeth in!

It’s great to chat with you today, Wesp5, thanks for joining me. Why don’t you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about yourself?

It's a great honor for me to be part of the interview series. My alias is Wesp5, but my real name is Dr. Werner Spahl and I work at the University of Munich as an analytical chemist.

First of all, how did you get into gaming, and then modding after that?

I got into gaming as a teenager with the ZX Spectrum and later the Atari ST home computers. At the time I mostly played text adventures, but already on the ST my brother and myself improved the multiplayer shooter Midimaze to create Midimaze Plus, which basically was my first mod. 

After moving to the PC I discovered Doom, Half-Life and many other FPS which became my favorite kind of games and so I continued modding these. The most prominent mods I created during that period are the Theme Doom Patch and Xen-Warrior for Half-Life.

 Monthly Roundup - September 2024 I come to you with another Monthly Roundup, like a cat leaving a dead bird for you at the end of your bed. Am I struggling to come up with new ways to introduce this already you ask? Yes, yes I am. So let’s just crack on with it! Nexus Mods App The newest release of our new App launched last week, and with it comes our regular caution. To update it, you will need to completely uninstall the old version, including all mods. It is still in very early stages of development don’t forget. But you can learn more about that here. However, with this release, we’ve added a very basic implementation of downloading Collections, along with updates to the UI featuring the new tree view, as well as enhancements for Cyberpunk 2077. It also includes some enhancements for interacting with Windows applications via Linux – so shout out to our Linux users. Halloween Competition Winners' Interview 1205

 Screen archery is a huge part of our community here at Nexus Mods, so we’re always looking for ways to shine a spotlight on it, especially as we have so many amazing images being shared in our media section every day. As I’m sure you’ll all remember, we hosted our first Screen Archery Competition back in October for Halloween. Among the first-place prizes was an interview with the winners of each category, giving them the opportunity to discuss their creative process and share any wisdom, tips, or tricks.  We know this has been a bit of a wait, but with the end of the year being such a busy time for everyone, we’re thrilled to finally share these interviews with you.
